“Cancer treatments explore new frontiers”

The 36th Pezcoller Seminar dedicated to the diagnosis of gynecological and breast cancers is starting.

As Professor Barbareschi pointed out, molecular biology has continued to grow exponentially in recent years. Now there is also the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution, which is extracting extraordinary information.

Enzo Galligioni, President of the Pezcoller Foundation explains “The main factors responsible for the mortality decline are the knowledge we have gained about the development and growth of cancer, because this has let us understand how to approach it, first and foremost in terms of prevention. Understanding the causes of cancer has helped us identify what needs to be done to prevent it.”

It is important to have the largest possible network, composed of medical teams who consult with each other to find the best solutions. “A practical example of collaboration,” said Dr. Barbareschi, “occurred when an unusual breast lesion in an italian patient was quickly resolved thanks to a teleconsultation with Dr. Edi Brogi from the United States.”
