THE PEZCOLLER FOUNDATION

The purpose of our Foundation is to promote and support cancer research. But why research is so important?
Who has gone through a serious illness knows that any hope for cure, comes from research.

Cure or long term survival are possible nowadays for many tumors, thanks to the incredible advancements in biological knowledgedisease prevention and therapy, that are all coming from cancer research.

Research is not the solitary achievement of a single scientist in the laboratory, but the results of the efforts of many, all over the world, matching their findings, sharing results and stimulating each other.

This is the only way they can prove that a theory is not just another opinion, but a better understanding of a phenomenon that in the end can lead to save more lives
This was the essence of the project of our founder Dr. Alessio Pezcoller.

CANCER RESEARCH IS IMPORTANT TO US

AWARDS TO THE BEST CANCER SCIENTISTS

Our first aim is to recognize the best researchers in the world, those who have contributed most to progress in the fight against cancer, both for those who already have a career and for young researchers.
The Pezcoller awards are important incentives for dedication and excellence for the present and future of research, thus the selection of winners is done in collaboration with the world’s most prestigious scientific institutions.

FELLOWSHIPS

As a supporter of cancer research, the Pezcoller Foundation is committed to providing fellowships for young researchers to support the development of the most promising research projects and innovative studies.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR RESEARCHERS

Networking among researchers is the key of the researche. They need to meet with each other, to compare their data, discuss problems and results, test their ideas, gathering suggestions and criticisms. For this reason, the Pezcoller Foundation organizes the Pezcoller Symposium each year, a scientific conference during which young researchers have the opportunity to meet the world’s top scientists to receive and propose new ideas and research perspectives.

AWARENESS and INFORMATIONAL ACTIVITIES for PEOPLE

Research needs public support and that is why the Pezcoller Foundation is also committed to increase people’s attention to health issues, particularly cancer.
Researchers and research institutions are part of the society and it is essential that the whole community understands and appreciates their importance, in view of saving more lives and improving the quality of life.
