An uninterrupted series of annual meetings, focused on
hot topics of cancer science, often anticipating the fields of major interest in cancer research.
Aimed to promote
interaction among researchers working at the cutting edge of basic oncological sciences, but also to offer young scientists the possibility of listening, learning, and discussing with the major experts in the field.
Promoted by Dr. Enrico Mihich, past President of the AACR and the architect of the agreement between the Pezcoller Foundation and the AACR in 1997, who served for many years as Chairman of the Symposia, with the support of the Standing Committee, composed of internationally recognized leading scientists in the cancer fields. Dr. David Livingston was also actively involved in the Pezcoller Symposia, helping Dr. Enrico Mihich for many years, and replacing him as Chairman for almost 10 years.
From 2022, the Nobel Laureate Dr. William G. Kaelin is the Chairman of the Symposia.
In the Symposia, each presentation is followed by a large time for discussion, thus providing broad opportunity for interaction and cross-fertilization among participants.
Young researchers are encouraged to present their data in the poster session and the 3 best posters are awarded with the
Pezcoller - Begnudelli Award and invited for oral presentation.
