“AI algorithms can predict cancer diagnoses. We’ve made huge progress”

Even though we call them all by the same name, every cancer is as different as every patient. To defeat it, we have to learn to recognize it and understand how it works at a basic level.

Pathological anatomy, which studies disease through observation of its effects on cells and tissues, is one of the disciplines that makes this possible and is “making giant strides”. This is the opinion of Prof. Mattia Barbareschi of the Pathological Anatomy Department of Trento, coordinator of the 36th Pezcoller Seminar, which will focus on gynecological and breast cancers.
